George B. Wells, 76, of Arthur, passed away at 8:58 AM Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at the Vine Street Christian Church, Arthur, with Rev. Dawn Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur.
George Bradley Wells was born July 27, 1936, the son of Jesse F. and Lola M. Luallen Wells. He married Wanda Sue Bray on August 30, 1959 in Arthur.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Sue Wells of Arthur; sisters, Jane Lourash of East Peoria; Joyce Weatherholt of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his twin sister, Joann (Wayne) Ward of Camargo; Bonnie (Paul) Lourash of East Peoria; Mitzi (Benny) Rayborn of Wiggins, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
George was retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served 17 months in Germany. He was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church; a 50-year member of the IOOF Lodge of Arthur; and a member of the "Easily Amused Club" which is retirees of the Paris office of Illinois Dept. of Transportation.
He loved to read, feed the birds, work crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. He also loved to travel and eat out with his wife. He had a great sense of humor.
