Gene Ernest Seaman, 80, of rural Mattoon, passed away on August 18, 2017 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Pastor Virgil F. Baker officiating. Receiving of family and friends will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Zoar Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Cooks Mills.

Mr. Seaman was born April 7, 1937 in Mattoon Memorial Hospital, the youngest of Ernest Clay and Sylvia Helen Underwood Seaman. He graduated from Mattoon High School in 1955. He farmed and was the purchasing agent for the now closed family business, Mattoon Electric Supply Company. He married Madonna Maureen Carter on April 17, 1956 in Boonville, Prentiss County, Mississippi. They had three children: daughter, Cathy, and two sons: Ron (Sandra) of Knoxville, TN and Randy (Stacie) of rural Mattoon. After Madonna's passing on August 23, 1992 he married Lola "Ruth" Beldon Drummond on June 26, 1993 at Faith Baptist Church, Mattoon; she preceded him in death on August 2, 1998.

Survivors include his sons, Ron and Randy; two grandsons, Nathanael and Joshua; and two granddaughters, Hannah and Micah.

He was preceded in death by his older sister, Marjery "Joan" in 1934; his daughter, Cathy Jo in 1956, and two wives.

Mr. Seaman was a member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church, rural Sullivan.
