Gale William Anderson, 62, of Lerna, died at 4:03 AM Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at his residence near Lerna.
There will be no services. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gale was born April 12, 1948 in Charleston, the son of William Woodrow and Dorothy (Anderson) Anderson. He married Patti Jean Biggs in Phoenix, Arizona, on November 27, 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Patti Jean Anderson of Lerna; 2 daughters, Leigh Ann Anderson of Canton, North Carolina, Amy Lynn Anderson of Apopka, Florida; 2 stepsons, Chris Gillis of Lovington, and Chad Gillis of Lerna. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Sharon Anderson and Cheryll Wetzel.
Gale was a retired grain and livestock farmer. He was a member of the Mattoon Moose Club; Endowment member of the National Rifle Association and Illinois State Rifle Association; member of the Toledo Masonic Lodge #834; and Toledo American Legion Post #764. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1969, attaining the rank of sergeant.
Gale was an avid shooter who passed it along to the younger generations.
