Fred Eugene "Butch" Moody of Tuscola went to eternal rest on Thursday, May 10th, 2012 at his home with his wife at his side as a result of lung cancer.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
Fred was born October 30, 1952 at Jarman Hospital in Tuscola, the oldest child of Donald Eugene Moody and Barbara Sullivan Moody. He grew up farming with his dad, mom, sister Cathy and brother Jack. He graduated from Tuscola High School in 1970. He attended St. Louis College of Pharmacy where he received his B.S. in Pharmacy in 1975. He was a member of the Kappa Psi fraternity. Fred became a Registered Pharmacist and returned to Central Illinois.
Fred married his high school sweetheart, Janice Lynn Kleiss on September 2, 1972 in Tuscola. They made their home in St. Louis. Upon finishing pharmacy school, they lived and worked in Charleston and Decatur before returning to live in Tuscola in 1977. Fred worked for Mercy Hospital and worked part-time for The Pharmacy in Tuscola. Fred and Janice purchased the business in 1981 and operated The Pharmacy until selling the business in 2009.
Fred was very proud of the pharmacy profession and being an independent pharmacist. He was a lifetime car enthusiast and member of the Wheels Car Club. He enjoyed attending car shows throughout the Midwest. Fred was a mentor and friend to a vast number of people.
He loved to grow flowers and plants and had a great appreciation for trees. Fred loved his grandsons and all his nieces and nephews very much.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barb and his dear friend Andy McGillen.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; his sons: Brian and his wife Kate, and grandsons Braxton and Elijah; Zach and Matt and his father Don Moody of Tuscola, brother: Jack E. Moody of Tuscola and sister: Cathy Chaplin and husband Dennis of Camargo, IL, nieces and nephews: Nathan Chaplin, Cara McKinnie and Jessica Ludemann.
