Obituary

Frank Earl Wilhelm, 88, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 8:30 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL, with Father Delix Michel as celebrant. A Rosary Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 with visitation following until 7:00 p.m. at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Pesotum, IL

Frank Earl was born on May 10, 1925 in Douglas County, IL, the son of Frank Joseph and Mary Catherine Behl Wilhelm. He married Verina A. Decker on June 25, 1949 in Philo, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include: 4 sons: Dr. Joseph (Rita) Wilhelm of East Lansing, MI ; Rev. Fr. Dean (Margaret) Wilhelm of Onalaska, WI, Kevin (Evelyn) Wilhelm of Tolono, IL; and Daniel (Lori) Wilhelm of Chillicothe, IL; 3 daughters: Madonna Rhule of Somerset, KY; Margaret (Darrel) Thompson of Arcola, IL; and Anita (Daniel) Barber of Springfield, IL; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a brother: Ferdinand William Wilhelm of Decatur, IL

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Dorothea Broderick

Frank was the first owner and original builder of the Dixie Truck Stop in Tuscola, IL. He was a building and construction contractor since 1944 and he was the owner/operator of Wilhelm Plumbing, Heating and Air in Tuscola, IL, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #3059. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Tuscola Fire Department for 37 years and helped on the Tuscola Rescue Squad for 25 years. Frank was a member of the Tuscola Moose Lodge #729 since 1952. He attained the Loyal Order of the Moose Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 1990.

Memorials are suggested to the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church.

Frank Earl enjoyed square dancing, listening to the Gene Trimble Band, Indy car racing, walking and doing yard work.
