Francis C. Archibald, 85, of Villa Grove, IL, passed away at 11:10 P.M., Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the First Christian Church of Villa Grove, 701 North Sycamore Street, Villa Grove, IL with Pastor Darrell Hinkle. Visitation will be held at 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Archibald was born on October 7, 1923 in West Salem, IL, the son of Ralph and Gertrude Robinson Archibald. He married his wife of 62 years, Joyce M. Hackett on June 29, 1946 in Tuscola, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include: 3 Daughters: Sue Ellen Taylor and husband: Randy of Clifton, VA, Linda Lu Dilliner and husband: John of Villa Grove, IL, Celeste Ann Rogers and husband: Tim of Lincoln, IL

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Brothers: Leroy and Dale Archibald, 2 Sisters: Rossie Schonert and Opal McBride

Francis was a retired farmer. He had farmed in the Villa Grove area from 1947 until his retirement in 1991. He was a very active and dedicated member of the First Christian Church of Villa Grove, where he had served as an elder, trustee and Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a member of the Douglas County Farm Bureau. He loved to travel, and had visited all 50 states. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Chicago White Sox's, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Villa Grove Football. Francis served his country in the US Army during World War II.
