Obituary

Floyd M. KIeiss, 98, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 1:54 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL


Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL, with Father Angel Sierra as celebrant. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.


Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church.


Floyd was born on February 9, 1921 in rural Tuscola, IL. He was the son of Anthony and Margaret Reinhart Kleiss. He married Mary A. Jordan on August 2, 1948 at Forty Martyrs Catholic Church in Tuscola, IL. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2016.


Surviving is his daughter: Alice Kleiss, sons: Raymond, (Flora) Kleiss, Mark Kleiss and John (Briget) Kleiss, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.


Floyd was preceded in death by his son: Timothy Kleiss, grandson, Jeffery Kleiss, sisters: Irma Miller, Corene Hettinger, Agnes Cler, Imogene Deedrich and brother: Paul Kleiss.


Floyd grew up farming in Douglas County. He later worked as a Utility man for Cabot Corporation. After retiring from Cabot, he worked many years at the farmer's market selling produce. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.


He was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He will be missed by all who knew him.


Memorials are suggested to the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.
