Obituary

Everett H. Meyer, 84, of Atwood, IL, died at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL, with Father Barry Harmon as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, with an 8 PM Vigil Service, Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial with military graveside rites accorded by the James Reeder American Legion Post #770 will be held in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.

Mr. Meyer was born on June 25, 1922 in Pesotum, IL, the son of Everett W. and Florentine R. Cler Meyer. He married Ethel Ruth Quick on October 3, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2003.

Survivors include: 1 Son: Mark Meyer and wife: Laura of Arcola, IL, 5 Daughters: Ruth Ann McDaniel and husband: John of Tuscola, IL, Barbara Beals and husband: Jeff of Arthur, IL, Elizabeth Hansen and husband: Nester of Hudson, OH, Shari Page and husband: Randy of Marion, IA, Mary Henrikson and husband: Paul of St. Louis, MO, 7 Grandchildren: Patricia Kimberlin, Brian McDaniel, Theresa Walck, Adam Beals, Amy Westphal, Christa Hansen, Claire Meyer, 1 Great-Grandson: Caleb McDaniel, 2 Brothers: Wayne Meyer of Tuscola, IL, Tom Meyer of Tuscola, IL, Sister-In Laws: Hazel Rogers and husband: Louis of Bloomington, IL, Virginia Meyer of Winner, SD,

He was preceded in death by: Parents, 1 Son: Robert Anthony Meyer, 1 Brother: Clarence Meyer, 1 Sister: Wanda Helm

Mr. Meyer was retired farmer. He served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army-Air Corps during World War II, having served as a machinist with the 364th Fighter Squadron attached to the 357th Fighter Group in Ireland. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. He was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, Tuscola, IL, Villa Grove VFW Post and the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL, where he served as adjutant for many years.He was an excellent machinist, who could fix anything. He loved history, reading, writing, and automobiles.
He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
