Eva Marie Richey, 92, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main St., Tuscola, IL with Rev. Patty Johansen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL.


Eva was born May 9, 1921 in Douglas County, IL the daughter of Fred and Matilda England Kroll. She married James Vinton Richey, the love of her life, on July 9, 1942. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1958.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Sandra Kratz of Bettendorf, IA and Donna (Ray) Lamb of Tuscola, IL. 4 grandchildren: Jami (Max) Painter of St. Joseph, IL; Tamra (Jerry) Stineman of Davenport, IA; Kimberly Wakefield of Davenport, IA and Scott Lamb of Savoy, IL; 6 great-grandchildren: Andrew Painter and Alec Painter, Christian Stineman and Kaitlyn Stineman, Tristan Wakefield and Chase Wakefield; one brother: Donald Kroll of Tuscola, IL.


Eva graduated from Arthur High School in 1939. She worked at East Prairie Elementary School until her retirement. She was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. Eva enjoyed reading and spending time having coffee with her friends. Her greatest love was for her family especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called her "Mimi"
