Elva Laura Smith, 91, of Arthur, formerly of Corinth, Mississippi, died at 8:28 PM Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Arthur Cemetery with Rev. Gwain Bevis officiating. There will be no visitation. Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Smith was born December 26, 1920 in Hermitage Springs, Tennessee, the daughter of Byrd C. and Hattie K. Capshaw Good. She married Basil W. Smith, Sr. in Barto, Florida on Oct. 9, 1939; he preceded her in death in August, 1970.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Rick) Franks of Arthur; 2 sons, Basil W. (Ava Loyce) Smith, Jr. and Samuel (Teresa) Smith both of Corinth, Mississippi; brother, Leland Good of Birmingham, Alabama; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Roger Dale Smith; 1 sister, Bonnie Eaton; and 1 granddaughter, Cherie Pedigo.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the First Apostolic Church of Arthur and a former member of the Church of the Crossroads, Corinth, Mississippi.
