Ellen Jane Seaman, 78, of Arthur, died at 11:30 AM Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Mason Point near Sullivan.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Arthur United Methodist Church with Rev. Leroy Allison officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur.

Ellen was born April 11, 1930 in Moultrie County, the daughter of Wilbur "Bill" and Norma G. Stevens Hendrickson. She married Ralph Richard "Bud" Seaman in Henderson, Kentucky on July 17, 1948; they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary last year.

Survivors include her husband, Bud Seaman of Arthur; 3 children, JoEllen Seaman of Arthur; Dee Ann Daily and husband Michael of Dallas, Georgia; Dennis Seaman and wife Nancy of Champaign; 1 sister, Roberta Hollenbeck and husband Dwight of Naperville; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, April; son, Butch; grandson, Jeremy; and brother, Dean Hendrickson.

Ellen attended grade school at Eureka Country School and graduated from Arthur High School Class of 1947. She was a homemaker and mother for the first twenty years of marriage. The second twenty years she was office manager and bookkeeper at Arthur Thermogas Propane until she retired in 1991. From 1991 until now was spent in retirement doing the things she enjoyed. Ellen loved traveling in the motor home and playing bridge. She spent 15 winters in the Valley in South Texas and witnessed a rare snowfall one Christmas while staying there.

Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her first love.
