During her 88 years on this earth, she was a proud "Farm" wife and mother and teacher. Her family meant more to her than life itself. She was a 4-H leader for the "Sugar and Spice" 4-H Club in Atwood, helped with the Jr. MYF at the United Methodist Church in Atwood while her children were growing up.

She taught 2nd grade for 20 years at the Atwood-Hammond Grade School, retiring in 1988. Her membership in 16 High Bridge Club was also very important to her. Her mother was a charter member of the club, which just celebrated its 95th anniversary.

Her other interests included Illini basketball, Cubs baseball and any activities that her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren were involved in.

She was a past member of the American Legion Auxillary, Women's Club, Douglas County Home Extension and Moultrie County Retired Teacher's Association.

Betty was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, where she co-taught Sunday School and served on several committees.
