Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Van Gundy, 84, of Arcola, IL, passed away at 6:10 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family members.

She was born on October 21, 1928 in Sikeston, MO, the fourth daughter of Elmer and Rose Ellen Frazier. She moved to Illinois as a small child and attended country school at Galton, IL, then later attended Arcola schools where she met her future husband C.W. Van Gundy, Jr. They were married on January 31, 1948. JR preceded her in death on January 12, 2008.

Betty leaves behind five loving children, Lynn Miller of Arcola, Kay Van Gundy of Joliet, IL, Greg Van Gundy and wife Carla of Bloomington, IL, Jodie Hinkle and husband Terry of Humboldt, IL and Kim Van Gundy and wife Janet of Arcola, IL, as well as eight adoring grandchildren: Jamie Henkelman, Jennie Damler, Jeff Dague, Melissa Dague, Janelle Van Gundy, Stephanie Van Gundy, Tony Van Gundy, and Brook Van Gundy, four great-grandchildren Madisyn, Bradyn, Jordyn and Tenley.

Betty devoted her life to her family, which she did with style and grace. The last couple of years of her life, she unfortunately experienced bad health, which gave her family the honor of returning to her the same love and nurturing she provided to so many.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Eulah Gordon, Pauline Steele and Kathleen Gill.

Memorials are suggested to the Arcola Foundation, Arcola Lion's Club or to Lincolnland Visiting Nurses Association.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Arcola Presbyterian Church, Arcola, IL, with Rev. Donald Winch officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., at the church.

Private family graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Arcola Township Cemetery.

Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, IL is assisting the family with the arrangements.
