Eleanor Lanier was born on September 25, 1944 in Artemas, PA, a daughter of Silas S. and Opha E. (Robinson) Barnes. She married the love of her life, Samuel Lanier on June 10, 1967 in Arlington, VA. He survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Lanier worked as a secretary at The US Dept. of Agriculture in Washington, DC for 37 years. She and her husband raised their two daughters in Oxon Hill, MD where they had many loving friends and family. Eleanor was a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church where she served as secretary until she became too sick to work. She and her husband moved then to Tuscola, IL to seek cancer treatment at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Eleanor was an amazing woman to say the least. She loved her family and gave of herself for others. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed serving in any way she could. She had many titles during her life, but the best of all were wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She fought the battle with cancer for 15+ years and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She truly was an amazing woman.

We are thankful that she is no longer in pain and she is resting happy with our Heavenly Father.
