Eleanor L. Chaney, 94, of Arcola, IL passed away at 3:52 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Chaney was born January 12, 1919 in Douglas County, IL, the daughter of Roy S. and Flora E. Lindsey Gardner. She married John William "Jack" Chaney on January 15, 1944 in Arcola, IL. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Kay (Edwin) Nadel of Scottsdale, AZ and Mrs. Carol (Kerry) Tuttle of Peoria, IL; three grandchildren: Dr. Brown (Michelle) Harris III of Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Justin (Kelsey) Tuttle of Peoria, IL and Elizabeth Tuttle and fiancé Jay Mann of New York City, NY; two great grandchildren: Jack and Mackenzie Harris, sister: Mrs. Marjorie (George) Morris of Mattoon, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Chaney was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Bill Dilliner and brother and sister-in-law: Dale and Mary Gardner.
Eleanor was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was an active farm wife. Her happiest years were the years she and husband Jack farmed and lived on their farm near Humboldt. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Eleanor was a lady who faced years of declining health with grace, patience and acceptance.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 205 South Pine Street, Arcola, IL with Father Barry Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Shrader Funeral Home 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, IL is assisting the family with the arrangements.
