Edward D. Turner, 76, of Tuscola, IL passed away 7:54 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL; with Rev. Jerry Conner officiating. Private family visitation will be held. The Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Turner was born November 1, 1935 in Tompkinsville, KY the son of Paul and Pauline Dickerson Turner.
Survivors include his father of Tuscola, IL, 3 Daughters: Valarie (James) French of Clinton, IL, Cheryl Jo (George) Schmitt of Peoria, IL and Laurie (Daniel) Clements of Tuscola, IL, 2 Brothers: Willie (Lydia) Turner of New Concord, KY and James (Judy) Turner of Sebastian, FL, 2 Sisters: Willa Dean (Harold) Smith of Sebastian, FL and Phyllis (Gordon) Adams of Tuscola, IL, 9 Grandchildren: Jason (Leslie) French, Matthew French, Nathan (Kara) French, Nicholas (Margie) Carter, Christopher Schmitt, Garrel Wiegel, Jacob Wiegel, Dawn (Andrew) Tarby, Rebecca Wiegel, 8 Great-Grandchildren: Sabrina Turner, Bryce Hutson, Katie Hutson, Michael Tarby, Kaylyn Lalen, Jayce Wiegel, Gary Wiegel and Kathryn French.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Ed worked as a carpenter for Adams Construction and Turner Construction. He formerly worked at USI Chemical Company in Tuscola. He was a member of the Tuscola Moose Lodge and the Mattoon Eagles. Ed served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean War.
His family was very important to him. He loved spending time with all of his family. Ed enjoyed dancing and playing Texas Hold'Em.
