Edward R. Parrish, 88, of Hammond, IL, Loving Husband, Father and PaPaw,  passed away at 11:04 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his daughter's home in Danvers, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with Dr. Lanny Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

Ed was born on September 23, 1928 in Shawnee, OK, the son of Robert E. and Amanda J. Hooten Parrish.
He married Helen Louise Hopson on April 7, 1951 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2006.

Survivors include his son: Dennis Parrish of Atwood, daughter: Johanna Samara and husband: John of Danvers, grandchildren: Jessica (Christian) Gallion, Joshua Samara, Jennifer (Nick) Samara-Campbell, Dustin (Katrina) Parrish, Brandon Parrish, Tamara Parrish and Mekenzie Parrish, great-grandchildren: Caleb Gallion, John Edward Gallion, Brooklyn Parrish, Madilyn Parrish, Hazel Parrish, brothers: Bob Parrish of Lovington and Roland Parrish of Shawnee, OK, sisters: Jane (Kenneth) Boyd of Shawnee, OK and Sue Crager of Houston, TX and special friends: Bobby and Carol Arnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Stephan Parrish, 4 brothers: James Robert "JR" Parrish, Marshall "Buck" Parrish, LeRoy Parrish, Chester Eugene Parrish and a sister: Wanda Gray.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Disabled Veterans Association.

Ed was a retired welder. He served his country as a member of the US Army and US Air Force. Ed enjoyed playing cards with his best friend, shooting pool, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
