Edmond L. Sawyer, 89, of rural Hammond, passed away at 11:57 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL. No visitation will be held.

Ed was born on July 7, 1935 in rural Hammond, the son of Theodore M. and Hazel M. Fisher Sawyer. He married Ann E. Morganthaler on November 16, 1956 in LaPlace, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Julie Ann (David) Mull-Hite, Andrea Jill (TJ) Shambaugh and David Edmond (Beth) Sawyer, grandchildren: Lindsay Brandt, Joshua David Sawyer and Sadie Marie Sawyer, great-grandchildren: Mabel Brandt, Tate Sawyer and Tripp Sawyer, siblings: Wanda Williams, Kenny (Jan) Sawyer, Larry (Fay) Sawyer and Gary Sawyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jason Lee Sawyer, brothers: Russell (Margie) Sawyer and Allen (Laura) Sawyer, brother-in-law: Bob Williams and sister-in-law: Nancy Sawyer

Ed retired from Illinois Power Company after 42 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing.

Memorials are suggested to the LaPlace United Methodist Church.
