Edith I. Mayfield, 95, of Arthur, IL, passed away at 5:06 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Arthur Cemetery with Rev. Dawn Ingram officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 South Vine Street, Arthur, IL
Edith was born on October 18, 1918 in Moultrie County, IL, the daughter of Elsworth A. and Bertha Kinney Brown. She married Alfred C. Mayfield on August 27, 1937 in Rockville, IN. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2002.
Survivors include her son: Wayne Mayfield of Arthur, granddaughters: Alesia Waters of Glencoe, AL and Janan Simpson of Helena, AL, 7 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law: Susan E. Mayfield, grandson: Eric Mayfield, 1 brother and 1 sister.
Memorials are suggested to the Vine Street Christian Church, Arthur, IL
Mrs. Mayfield was a homemaker. She formerly worked in the casket division of Progress Industries in Arthur. Edith was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and cross stitching.
