Dwight McCumber, 90, of Villa Grove, IL, passed away at 11:55 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL as a result of an automobile accident.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Nicholas Showalter officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, IL with military graveside rites accorded.

Dwight was born on October 10, 1919 in Camargo, IL, one of six children born to the late Frank and Florence Helm McCumber. He married Dorothy Williams on April 8, 1944 in San Luis Obispo, CA. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2007.

Survivors include his children: Jeanette Lecher and husband: Dave of Tuscola, IL, Jeanelle Mitsdarfer and husband: Kenneth of Charleston, IL, Darrell McCumber and wife: Janet of Camargo, IL, 3 Grandchildren: Mallory Blair Seidlitz, Devon West McCumber and Eric Phillip Lecher, 1 Sister: Louise Hawthorne of Sidney, IL

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Villa Grove Masonic Lodge or the Villa Grove United Methodist Church or Donor's Choice

Dwight farmed for over 50 years and retired 20 years ago. He served his country as a member of the US Army during World War II, where he was a 1st Sergent in the infantry. in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Camargo Masonic Lodge. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
