Dorothy F. Sallee, of Arthur, died peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 12:11 AM at the Arthur Home. She had celebrated her 100th birthday on January 28, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. John Sewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Survivors include her nephew, Philip Sallee and his family of Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Hollis and Maurice, and sister, Mildred.

Dorothy was born January 28, 1912 in rural Arthur, the daughter of Edgar and Tabitha Powell Sallee. She graduated from Arthur High School Class of 1931. She began working at Progress Industries, Arthur, in the casket division. Later in the 1930's, she moved to Indianapolis and started working for Western Electric making telephone switchboards. She worked for the Bell System until retiring in 1971. She lived in Shelbyville, Indiana, and Indianapolis before returning to live in Arthur in 1984.

Dorothy attended the First Baptist Church in Arthur. She always enjoyed working with her hands and will be remembered for her sense of humor and generosity. She will be missed by her family and friends.
