Dorothy E. Moody, 89, of Arcola, IL, passed away at 8:05 a.m., Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, IL with the Rev. Vince Rohn officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, IL

Mrs. Moody was born on August 4, 1921 in Sesser, IL, the daughter of Raymond J. and Mary Della McBride Crocker. She married Merle Orvile Moody on October 11, 1941 in Fredrickson, MO. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1987.

Survivors include her son: Bill Moody and wife: Cleta of Naples, FL, daughters: Mary Steefel and husband: David of Denver, CO, Marilyn Moody of Boise, ID and Connie Myers of Safety Harbor, FL, five grandchildren: Ryan Moody, Tera Moody, Emily Steefel, Daniel Steefel and Katie Steefel, sister: Clara Brown of Sesser, IL, brother: Burton Crocker and wife: Jean of Sesser, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Dorothy was a retired school teacher and antique dealer. She received her Bachelor and Master's degrees from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, IL. She was a member of the Arcola Women's Club, Douglas County Retired Teachers' Association and the Galton Ladies Club. Dorothy loved to collect antiques, do genealogy research, work on her computer and she was an avid reader.
