Obituary

Dorothy H. Lytle, 85, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 S. Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Dennis Hanner officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.

Dorothy was born near Galton, IL on February 20, 1928, the only child of Maurice and Pauline Maris Baker. She graduated from Maple Grove #48 grade school, 2 miles east of Galton and from Arcola Township High School in 1945.

She married Lloyd H. Lytle on October 13, 1946 in Tuscola, Illinois. The first four years of their marriage they lived in Arcola and moved to Tuscola in 1950, to live close to his work. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2007.

She is survived by her son: Gary Lytle and wife: Kim of Tuscola, IL; daughter: Barbara Hutton and husband: Glenn of Tuscola, IL, five grandchildren: Tina Hall-Kestner of Urbana, Jennifer (Jim) Lewis, Stephanie (Kyle) Walker, Matthew (Jodi) Lytle, Amy (Tom) Dueker all of Tuscola. She leaves eight great-grandchildren: Ashley, Jordan and Caitlan Lewis, Neil, Samantha and Grace Walker, Isabella Dueker and Ke'le' Kirkley, step-brothers: Dale (Marlene) Phillips of Tuscola, Larry (Carolyn) Phillips of Camargo, step-sister: Dorothy (Les) Rogers of Salem, IL
step-grandchildren: Noel (Lisa) Hutton, Earl (Julie) Hutton, Brandon (Maria) Hutton

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years, step-mother: Mabel Phillips Baker, step-sisters: Iola Gray and Helen Kelley.

Dorothy worked at the Arcola Record Herald following high school graduation for one year and the Tuscola Journal from 1968 to 1979. Her greatest love was her family, followed by music, photography and genealogy.

She was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, where she was Sunday School secretary for 20 years. She was a member of the Stephen A. Douglas Chapter NSDAR and the Douglas County Museum Association.

Dorothy's life was devoted to caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Douglas County DAR or Douglas County Museum Association.
