Doris Mildred Wirth, 102, of Arcola, died at 12:56 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 at Arcola Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Arcola First Christian Church with Rev. Brent Budd officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at the church on Thursday. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doris was born October 18, 1914 near Arcola, the daughter of Alonzo Taylor and Edythe Blanche Steinmetz Hamilton. She married Staff Sgt. George W. Wirth on December 31, 1942 in the home of his parents in Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1985.

Survivors include her daughters, Valerie Curtis and husband Mike of Arcola; Sonja Rogers; granddaughter; April Whitney and husband Tony of Champaign; and great granddaughter, McKenzie Brooke Redfern of Champaign. She was preceded in death by her adopted grandson, Rick Wirth.

Doris attended Columbia School, a rural school near Arcola. She was a lifetime member of the Arcola First Christian Church.

She loved her family and her home and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.

Memorials are suggested to the Arcola First Christian Church or the Arcola Public Library.
