Doris Jean Piercy, 94, of Tuscola, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman, IL.
Eastern Star and Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with Pastor Duane Piercy officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo, IL.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., on Friday at the funeral home.
Doris was born on August 28, 1931 to Harold and Fern Klockenbrink Hinners in Philo, IL.
She is survived by her son: Richard (Cindy) Lamb of Tuscola, daughters: Sharon (Mike) Stahler of Tuscola, Cindy (Tim) Stout of Plainfield, IN, stepsons: Duane (Cheryl) Piercy of Villa Grove, Scott (Daphne) Piercy of Camargo and stepdaughter: Terry (Carl) Vestal of Villa Grove, 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Richard Lamb, passed away in December 1974, and an infant daughter Janet Sue Lamb also passed away. She later married William Piercy on May 27, 1978 in Philo, who passed away on February 23, 2009. Also preceding her in death were both parents and sister: Carol Stout.
Her working career started with Dr. Phillip Deaver as a receptionist, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Department, waitress at Omana and the White House, Deputy City Clerk for the City of Tuscola, U of I College of Agriculture student records and Tuscola Stone Company, retiring from there after 22 years.
Doris was a member of the Victory Church of Camargo. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #44 in Tuscola for over 60 years. In 1956, she was picked as a delegate for the Champaign County Bowling Association to the National Bowling Convention in New Orleans as a highlight in her bowling career as well as belonging to the 600 club.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
