Helen Dolores "Dorie" Miller, 90, of Arcola, died at 2:23 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, Mattoon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dorans, with Pastor Paul Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola.

Dorie was born July 4, 1925 in Humboldt, the daughter of Curtis and Helen Knollenberg Handley. She was united in marriage to Robert Miller at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on August 28, 1943; he preceded her in death on July 9, 2012.

She is survived by her son, Terry Miller of Lexington, Kentucky; daughter, Jane (Jack) McNary of Arcola; son, Dan (Maria) Miller of Arcola; grandchildren, Lori Gordon of Arcola; Bruce (Nicole) McNary of Gibson City; Stephanie Miller of Las Vegas, Nevada; Brock Miller of Jacksonville, Florida; Claire and Clayton Miller of Arcola; step granddaughter, Tami Hatton of Neoga; great grandchildren, Courtney Gordon of Brandon, Florida; Curtis Gordon of Vandalia; Chase Ottofy of Las Vegas, Nevada; step great granddaughter, Cherode Sowers of Neoga; 2 sisters, Myrna Handley of Terre Haute, Indiana; and Linda (Ray) Beals of Mt. Zion. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and William Handley, 2 sisters, Marjorie Motley and Jeanette McAllister.

Dorie was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dorans, where she received the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and marriage. She was a graduate of Humboldt High School in 1943 . She had worked as a secretary at the Arcola Elementary School for many years and also worked at the Arcola Homestead Savings and Loan and also for Mark Petty Law Office.
