Donna Jean Thornton, 82, of Arcola, died at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at her residence.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 at Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola, with visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Chesterville Cemetery.

Donna was born October 20, 1938 in Arcola, the daughter of Earl and Nettie Louise Ghere Bright. She married Craig Thornton on March 31, 1956; he preceded her in death on December 28, 2002.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Becca) Thornton of Arcola; her daughter, Angela Thornton of Arcola; brother, Harry (Rita) Bright of Mt. Zion; sisters, Mary (Myron) McGregor of Oakland; Louise (Ray) Johnston of Arcola; 7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary; 2 sisters, Lila Carey and Nancy Baker.

Donna was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed bowling and playing canasta with her friends.
