Donald E. Yedtman, 85, of Clinton, IL, formerly of Atwood, IL, passed away at 7:05 a.m., Monday, December 26, 2011 at Manor Court Liberty Village in Clinton, IL
Private family graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL. There will be no visitation. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL is handling the arrangements.
Don was born on July 19, 1926 in West Salem, IL, the son of Ruth Miller and James Yedtman. He married Dorothy, his wife of 63 years, on September 5, 1948 in Olney, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include their two daughters, Susan (Scott) McCoy of Clinton, IL and Kari (Bill) Lorenzen of Overland Park, KS, four grandchildren: Stephanie (Mark) Rotramel, Rob Spencer, Melissa Lorenzen and Eric Lorenzen. 2 step-grandchildren: Jennifer and Heather McCoy and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother: Daniel.
From 1944 to 1946, Don served in the US Army, including tours of duty in Germany and France during World War II. Don retired from USI Chemical Company in Tuscola, IL in 1989.
Don was a member of the United Church of Atwood, James Reeder American Legion Post #770 in Atwood and the International Union of Operating Engineers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, United Church of Atwood or James Reeder American Legion Post #770.
Don was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinal's baseball and Illini basketball.
