Donald E. Walker, Sr., 83, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 5:57 pm, Friday, July 1, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is handling the arrangements.

Don was born on February 29, 1928 at rural Hindsboro, IL, the son of Leonard L. Walker and Pearl Behl Parrish. He married Cloe Headrick on May 29, 1948. She survives.

Also surviving is his son Donald E. Walker, Jr. and wife: Kim of rural Tuscola, IL, sister: Norma Jean Binager of Dewitt, IA

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter: Linda Sue Walker and a brother: Bernard Behl.

Don worked as a machinist at the USI Quantum Chemical Company in Tuscola, having retired in 1990, after 36 years of service. He served his country as a member of the US Air Force during World War II. Don was a 50 year member of the Tuscola Masonic Lodge #332, AF & AM and he was a member of the Douglas County Museum Association.

Don enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and being with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Douglas County Museum Association.
