Donald J. Thomas, 78, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 4:05 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at his residence.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 3022 at the Smith House, 400 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. A luncheon will to be served at 1:30 p.m. with a time of fellowship and memories to follow.

Mr. Thomas was born May 1, 1944 in Clinton, IN, the son of John and Vera Guth Thomas.  He married Linda Peterson on July 2, 1968 in Terre Haute, IN.  She survives.

Other survivors include his son: Chip Thomas of Roanoke, VA, daughter: Erica Jackson of New Concord, KY, 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Patricia Cockrell.

In 1962, Don graduated from Sullivan High School, Sullivan, IN. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.

Don worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, baking cookies, fishing and traveling.  Don was an avid reader and animal lover. He was always generous with his time and money to a fault.
