DeWayne Ard, 68, of Rardin, IL, passed away at 5:27 pm, Thursday, December 6, 2012 as a result of a truck accident.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am., Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm, Sunday at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, IL.
DeWayne was born August 9, 1944 in Kansas, IL, the son of Ora and Retha Lewis Ard. He married Shirley J. Martin on December 23, 1985 in Hindsboro, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include his children: Georgann (James) Taylor, Dea Ard, Bobbi (Jimmie) Smith, Robbi (Sam) George, Calvin (Lenore) Peek, Jr., son-in-law: Bill (Susan) Sanders, brothers and sisters: Janetta (Lonnie) Adams, Tom (Brenda) Ard, Larry (Peggy) Ard, Gary (Bev) Ard, Sheila Ard, Ted (Cindy) Ard and Denny Ard, 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Doreen Ard Sanders, sisters: Virginia Ard and Mae Ard Williams, brother: Jimbo Ard.
He retired from Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, where he worked as a round house foreman. He was formerly an owner/operator of his own truck and he worked as a mechanic for JB Helmuth. He was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church. He was an avid gun collector, avid reader, he enjoyed wood working and he loved the Chicago Cubs.
Memorials masses are suggested to the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church.
