Dennis Ray Jumper, 57, of Arcola, IL, formerly of Atwood, IL, passed away at 11:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Chaplain Tim Haworth officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lake Fork Cemetery, rural Atwood, IL.

Dennis was born on June 20, 1954 in Springfield, IL, the son of Samuel Richard and Eleanor Reeve Jumper. He married Cindy Webb on June 19, 1999 at Lake Fork Church. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter: LeAnn Hales and sons: Howard and Hayden Hales all of Arcola, IL, daughter: Kimberly (Wayne) Peachey of Arthur, IL, step-daughter: Gabrielle Ried of Villa Grove, IL, step-son: Fred Ried III of Villa Grove, IL, father: Samuel (Irene) Jumper of Bloomington, 3 brothers: Richard (Janet) Jumper of Peoria, IL, James (Marilyn) Jumper of Springfield, IL, Gary Jumper of Savoy, IL; 2 sisters: Rena Williams of South Carolina and Donna (John) Deter of Leroy, IL.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Eleanor Reeve Jumper.

Dennis was a chef and restaurateur. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School Class of 1972. He attended Central Michigan University. Dennis worked as the food and beverage director at the Dixie Truckers Home at McLean, IL and he was the general manager for the Dixie Truckers Home in Tuscola for 15 years. Dennis and his wife Cindy were the general managers for the Kaskaskia Country Club in Arcola for 7 years. He enjoyed cooking, golfing and karaoke. He competed for 2 years in the Kansas City Amateur Division of the Brisket and Rib Barbeque competition.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dennis Jumper Family or the Douglas County Relay for Life.
