Denice Ann (Mattingly) Riley, 79, of Villa Grove, formerly of Arcola, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at her daughter’s residence in Hindsboro.

She is the daughter of Vernie (Spud) and Doris Vaughn Mattingly. She married Forrest “Frosty” Riley on November 21, 1963; he preceded her in death on August 29, 2010.

Survivors include her son, Paul Riley of Villa Grove; daughter, Janelle Lewallen and husband Jon of Hindsboro; sisters, Connie Czerwonka and husband Dennis of Mattoon; Kenita Clapp and husband Jeff of Charleston; brother, Mike Mattingly and wife Debbie of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

Denice attended Arcola High School. She worked as a cook at JR’s Lounge in Villa Grove for 20 years, where she was known for her delicious ribs and potato salad. She was proud to be a stay-at-home Mom and loved preparing family dinners with her homemade dinner rolls.

Denice attended the Camargo Methodist Church.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
