Delores J. Swisher, 76, of Sullivan, IL, formerly of Garrett, IL, passed away at 5:46 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2008 at the St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL

Public Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Jess Adams officiating. Private family visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Swisher was born on October 15, 1932 in Douglas County, IL, the daughter of Harold and Melzena Mayfield McDade. She married Bill Swisher on August 19, 1949 in Corinth, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1998.

Survivors include: 1 Son: Edward Swisher of Garrett, IL, 1 Step-Son: Bob Wilkerson of Danville, IL, 3 Daughters: Shirley (Bud) Gilbert of Garrett, IL, Barbara (Mike) Herman of Cooks Mills, IL, Brenda Swisher of Garrett, IL, 1 Brother: Willie McDade of Atwood, IL, 1 Sister: Colleen Baughman of Dietrich, IL, 9 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, Companion: Jake Wood of Sullivan, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association

Delores formerly owned and operated Swisher Variety Store in Garrett, IL. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arcola and the Mattoon Moose Lodge. Delores loved to travel.
