Delores M. Carroll, 79, of Laurel, Maryland, formerly of Arcola, died December 7, 2012 in her home.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Arcola, with Rev. Barry Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Inurnment will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola is assisting the family with arrangements.

Delores was born April 21, 1933 in Arcola the daughter of Henry E. and Margaraet Marie Ewald Carroll, Sr.

Survivors include her brother, Henry E. (Jan) Carroll, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; twin sister, Doris (Zollie) Hall of Sterling; sisters, Barbara (Larry) Crociani of Waukegan; Mary Elizabeth Evans of Charleston; and several nephews and nieces.

Delores grew up in Arcola and graduated from Arcola High School. She received her B.S. Degree in Physical Education at Eastern Illinois University, her M.A. Degree from Colorado State, and a M.A. from George Washington University in Counseling. She also received a Certificate in Education for Parish Service from Trinity College. She served as missionary to Africa in the 60's and taught in the D.C. public schools (high school and junior high), serving as a counselor for the last several years of her career at Hine Junior High School. She was very active in her church serving in many different capacities.

Delores loved her God, family, friends, and helping others. She will be remembered for her spunk, energy, humor, and graciousness.
