Dean Auer, 64, of Atwood, IL, died at 9:37 PM., Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Mattoon, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Rev. Veronica Don officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL

Mr. Auer was born on July 26, 1942 in Decatur, IL, the son of Harold Richard and Minnie Maude Barnett Auer.

Survivors include: 1 Son: Jeffrey Dean Auer of Atwood, IL, 1 Daughter: Jodi Deann Roderick and husband: Keith of Mattoon, IL, 1 Sister: Shirley Hale and husband: Norman of Mt. Zion, IL, 4 Grandchildren: Boyd Allen Crist, Ricky Allen Crist, Chance Allen Crist and Kyler Kibler

Mr. Auer worked as a painter at the University of Illinois for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Atwood Masonic Lodge # 651, AF & AM and the IOOF # 742, Arthur, IL. He was a member of the Painters Local #363 in Champaign, IL. He enjoyed drag racing, working on cars and his dogs.
