David "Bud" Rice, Jr., 88, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at his residence.
Graveside Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Duane Piercy officiating. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, is handling the arrangements.
Bud was born on March 16, 1924 in Camargo, IL, the son of David L. and Hazel Miller Rice, Sr. He married George Ann Muir on February 5, 1946 in Tuscola, IL. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2003.
Survivors include his son: Doug Rice and wife: Rosemary of Peru, IN, daughter: Jan McGuire and husband: Tom of Mooresville, NC, 6 grandchildren: Stephen (Margie) Rice of Bloomington, IN, Timothy David (Shelly) Rice of Valparaiso, IN, Melissa Rice and Brian Stuck of Bainbridge, WA, Lauren Rice of Durham, NC, Jennie McGuire and David Burke of Charlotte, NC, Benjamin (Sara) McGuire of Chicago, IL, 6 great-grandchildren: Alex Rice, Jackson Rice, Georgia Rice, David Rice, Naomi Stuck and Logan Burke and a sister: Mary Jean Barnes of Tuscola, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: James R. Rice and John P. Rice.
The family would like to thank Becki Anderson, his caregiver, to have the opportunity to spend the last seven years at home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Victory Church of Camargo.
Bud was a farmer, real estate agent and insurance agent. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. Bud enjoyed horse racing.
