David Edward Mentzer, 43, of Arthur, died at 4:40 AM Friday, May 9, 2008 in Arthur as a
result of injuries sustained from a train accident.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Vine Street Christian Church, 249 S. Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. Michael Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur.

Dave was born December 19, 1964 in Arthur, the son of Kenneth and Donna Smith Mentzer.

Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Mentzer and special friend, Ronnie Lee of Decatur; son, Mark Mentzer of Decatur; father, Kenneth Mentzer of Arthur; brother, Gary (Yaemi) Mentzer of Tokyo, Japan; granddaughter, Bailey Lee-Mentzer; nephew and niece, Michael and Priscilla Mentzer. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Dave was employed at Masterbrand Cabinets in Arthur as a cabinet inspector since June 6, 1983. He was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church and the Sons of American Legion, Lovington. He enjoyed cooking at Legion events and was a diehard fan of Jeff Gordon, Nascar racing, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and the Lakers.

Memorials are suggested to the Bailey Lee-Mentzer Trust Fund, in care of the State Bank of Arthur, 411 S. Vine Street, Arthur, IL 61911.
