Daniel Lee "Strait" Ray, 72, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

Danny Ray was born October 13, 1950 in Centralia, IL, the son of Jonathan M. and Helen (Rhynes) Ray.

He is survived by a wife: Tami (Young) Ray, a son: DJ Ray and wife Christine of Burlington, KY, and two daughters: Ali Czerwonka and husband Wade of Gibson City and Amber Seip and husband Adam of Tuscola, 5 grandchildren: Tyler and Carlie Seip, Addi, Ava and Gia Czerwonka, siblings: David Ray of Centralia, Vicky Feeney and husband Billy of Mattoon, Tom Ray and wife Deb of Tuscola.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Johnnie Ray.

Danny enlisted right out of high school for the United States Marine Corps serving his country during the Vietnam War.  He worked in the Ziegler coal mine at Murdock and then retired from the building services department at the University of Illinois.  He was a member of the VFW and Tuscola Masonic Lodge #332, AF & AM.  Danny enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time at the lake.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
