Dale E. "Flash" Hanners, 63, of Atwood, IL, formerly of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 11:32 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Bob Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL

Flash was born on December 15, 1950 in Tuscola, IL, the oldest son of Glenn L. and Patricia A. Thomas Hanners. He married Kelli Stout on May 15, 1976 at Tuscola, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter: Katrina Hanners of Tolono, IL, brothers: Brad, Rodney, Randy and Donnie Hanners all of Tuscola, sisters: Kathy Mann, Diana Metheny, Rose Mary Hanners and Connie Jo Green all of Tuscola.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Lori Kaye Hanners.

Dale was a strong man with a great sense of humor and big heart. He excelled as an athlete at Tuscola High School. He held the school record for pole vaulting and received many awards for track. Being a hard worker was instilled in him at a young age. This carried over to later years in roofing. Flash ran his own roofing business and worked for 35 years under the "late, great" Kenny Snyder. Dale was also employed at USI for 11 years. For six years, Dale enjoyed providing his DJ service "Flashdance" for weddings, class reunions, and beyond. Some of his favorite things to do were listening to music, watching NASCAR and sports, visiting friends and family around town, going to dinner with his wife and daughter, taking care of his customers, and so much more.
