Obituary
Dale C. Cooch, 85, of Tuscola, IL, formerly of Atwood, IL, passed away at 5:57 AM, Sunday, February 17, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Conrad Heisner officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the Lake Fork Cemetery, rural Atwood, IL
Mr. Cooch was born on April 25, 1922 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Vernon and Alice E. Kearns Cooch. He married Mary L. Livengood on March 14, 1943 in Atwood, IL. She preceded him in death on October 21, 1991. He married Betty Sexton Weber on August 29, 1998 in Tuscola, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include his children: Dale "Chuck" Cooch of Normal, IL, Martha Ramsay and husband: George of Austin, TX, Dan Cooch and wife: Barbara of Eaton, CO, Granddaughters: Holly Miller and husband: Jason and their daughter: Brittany of Monticello, IL, Teri Allen and husband: Steve and their children: Brice, Marissa and Colton of White Heath, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be made to the Lake Fork United Church of Christ or Carle Hospice.
Mr. Cooch was a retired farmer and pilot. Prior to farming he worked as a tool and die maker in Indianapolis, IN. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, having served as a medical technician for Company B of the 95th Medical Battalion in Europe. He was a 60 year member of the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL. He was a member to the Aircraft Owner's and Pilots Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association. The Atwood Airport was located on Dale's farm north of Atwood. He was a member of and served in several offices at the Lake Fork United Church of Christ. He was a former 4-H Leader and he was a former District Director for the Douglas County Soil and Water Conservation District.
