C.W. "Bill" Gordy, 92, of rural Sadorus, IL, passed away at 2:40 pm, Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main, Tuscola, IL, with Pastor Rob Adams officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL.

Mr. Gordy was born on August 20, 1918 in Tuscola, IL, the son of William J. and Petrodine Stieper Gordy. He married Helen Hubbart on June 29, 1941 in White Heath, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include: 2 sons: J. William Gordy of Spring Hill, FL and Keith Gordy of Tuscola, IL, 1 daughter: Kathleen Kelly of Gibson City, IL, 2 Half-Brothers: Doug and Lee Gordy, 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 half-brother

Bill retired in 1982 from General Telephone Company, where he worked for over 36 years as the commercial manager at the Tuscola and Lincoln, IL offices. He was a member of the Parkville United Methodist Church, rural Sadorus, IL. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneer's Club and the Tuscola Ambucs. He was a former Junior Achievement mentor. Bill served during World War II in the US Army.
