Obituary

Rev. Conrad Heisner, 71, of Atwood,IL, passed away at 5:58 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana,IL


Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. , Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood , IL , with Rev. Tom Norwalk and Rev. Dennis Hanner officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will be private.


Conrad was born on March 17, 1941 in Joliet, IL, the son of Walter G. and LaVerne Kuester Heisner. He married Marilyn J. Hardy Parker on May 13, 1978 in Highland,IN. She survives.


Other survivors include his children: Conrad W. (Deborah) Heisner of Bluffton, IN, Donna (Jeffrey) Perkins of Masaryktown, FL, Marijo (Dwayne) Weller of Hobart, IN, Jon (Michelle) Heisner of Titusville, FL, David (Cindy) Parker of Highland, IN and Thomas Parker of Dayton, OH, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, brother: Neil Heisner of Port Charlotte, FL and sister: Sheila Takacs of Schererville, IN


He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son: Timothy Parker.


Memorials are suggested to a food pantry of the donor's choice.


Rev. Heisner retired from the Lake Fork United Church of Christ, where he served as the minister for 15 years. He had previously served churches in Merrillville , IN , Mt. Vernon , IN , Hammond , IN and Whiting, IN. Rev. Heisner graduated from the University of Chicago Seminary in 1983.

Conrad served his country as a member of the US Army in Alaska, where he worked in communications. He was a member of the Atwood Ministerial Alliance, Illinois Conference of the UCC, and Indiana - Kentucky Conference of the UCC.

Conrad enjoyed raising goats, boating, fishing, playing cards and visiting with his many friends.
