Colleen Louise ( VadeBoncouer ) Sass of Atwood, IL was born June 15, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

She met the love of her life, Lynn Sass, while out for a walk. They married November 14, 1970 and recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary. Although Colleen worked various jobs, much of her life was dedicated to being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Colleen loved her grandchildren fiercely. She enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears games and coloring, but what she enjoyed most was spending time with her family playing games.

She is survived by her husband Lynn Sass, her daughter Carolyn (Jess) Mick, her sons Craig (Amy) Sass, Shannon (Jenni) Sass, and Kyle Sass. Colleen's grandchildren are Stephanie (Holden), Kolbie, Logan, Claire, Hannah (Jay), and Preston. Colleen's great-grandchildren are Lorelei, Alyas, Jasper, and Rukia. Colleen's surviving siblings are Gilbert "Bucky" VadeBoncouer , Sue (Ray) Lennertz, Wendy (Ed) Sandlin, Karen Kozinski, and Carol (Steve) Bastic. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, and a sister.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL. Burial will follow in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
