Clemens J. "Clem" Brungardt, 85, of Tuscola, IL, formerly of Bement, IL, passed away at 7:40 P.M., Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 29, 2008 at Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 E. Van Allen St, Tuscola, IL with Father Barry Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main St, Tuscola, IL with a 4:30 P.M. Prayer Service on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bement Township Cemetery, Bement, IL with military graveside rites accorded.
Mr. Brungardt was born on December 1, 1923 in Gorham, KS, the son of Michael and Mary Koeberlein Brungardt. He married Beatrice Braun on August 30, 1948 in Victoria, KS. She preceded him in death April 11, 1999.
Survivors included: 1 Son: Jerry Brungardt and wife Marg of Wichita Falls TX; 3 Daughters: Connie Wesch and husband Mark of Tuscola, IL; Vera Tempel and husband Tom of Tolono, IL; and Vickie Conlin and husband Mark of Arthur, IL; 3 Brothers: Raymond Brungardt of Sacramento, CA; Joseph Brungardt of Fort Scott, KS; Robert Brungardt of Seward, NE; 2 Sisters: Eleanor Kuhn of Ulysses, KS; Maggie Leiken of Taft, CA; 7 Grandchildren: Jenny Kisner; Katie Williams; Adam Brungardt, Stacey Robbins, Matthew Wesch, Cassandra Wesch and Andrew Tempel and 3 Great-Grandchildren Camden Robbins, Emersyn Robbins and Lawson Kisner.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, and 1 Brother, Richard.
Memorials are suggested to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or a charity of the Donor's Choice.
Mr. Brungardt served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Clem retired from Texaco Cities Service Pipeline in Bement, IL, where he worked for 36 years as the location supervisor. He also helped his son-in-law: Mark Wesch farm for several years. He was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620, Bement, IL. He loved to do woodworking, gardening, dancing, cooking out and spending time with his family.
