Charlotte Roxine Klay, 84, of Arthur, died at 5:40 PM Monday, December 22, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Arthur United Methodist Church, 128 E. Illinois Street, Arthur, with Rev. Leroy Allison officiating. Order of Eastern Star Services will be held just prior to the funeral service conducted by the Crystal Chapter #39. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Klay was born August 26, 1924 in Ashmore, the daughter of Iassac Ceif and Flossie Ellen Childress Coartney. She married Edward J. Klay in Tuscola on November 3, 1951; he preceded her in death on October 30, 1992.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra Foster and husband Doug of Edinburg; son, Doug Klay of Tuscola; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Mrs. Klay graduated from Charleston High School. She was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church; Order of Eastern Star Crystal Chapter #39, where she had served as Past Worthy Matron when it was the Arthur Chapter #427; and the Arthur American Legion Auxiliary.
