Obituary

Charles "Chob" William Edmundson, 78, of Arthur, died at 6:37 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2017 at Sarah Bush Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Arthur United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Weiman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur.

Chob was born January 23, 1939 in Tuscola, the son of John W. and Catherine Loriene Drake Edmundson.  He married Judith Aschermann in Arthur on August 21, 1960.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Edmundson of Arthur; daughter, Sandy (David) Rohlfing of Bloomington; sons, Todd (Susie) Edmundson of Tuscola; Mark (LuAnn) Edmundson of Leroy; grandchildren, Jack and Sam Edmundson; sister Janice Taylor of Tuscola and many nieces and nephews.

Chob graduated from Newman High School in 1957 where he was a stand-out four sport athlete. He played basketball and received his Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1961.  He received his Master's Degree with a Superintendent's Endorsement from the University of Illinois in 1964. Chob taught high school and coached basketball and football at both West Lebanon High School and Newman High School; he was the junior high principal and coached basketball at Eureka Junior High; he was the junior and senior high principal at Arthur Junior High and High School; he was elected to five four year terms as Regional Superintendent of Schools of Douglas-Piatt Counties; and he was the superintendent of Atwood Hammond School District.  Following educational retirement, Chob became and continued to be a crop hail adjuster and auditor for Country Financial.

He served on the Douglas County Board. He was a member of Kaskaskia Country Club where he served as treasurer and taught junior golf.

Chob's GREATEST joy was his family. He was an avid golfer, card player and sports fan and he cherished the countless hours he spent watching and participating in these events with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
