Obituary

Catherine Mahannah, 95, of Hammond, IL, passed away at 3:05 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Arthur Home, Arthur, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Rev. Linda Peyla and Rev. Larry Bricker officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL

Mrs. Mahannah was born on April 28, 1918 in Gamaliel, KY, the daughter of Sam and Mintie Hale McCoy. She married Dean Mahannah on August 30, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He passed away on February 25, 1989.

Surviving is her son: Sam Mahannah of Hammond, IL, granddaughter: Donna Adams of Indianapolis, IN, great-granddaughter: Melodie Ondecker of Brownsburg, IN, great-great-grandson: Lucas Rhine Ondecker of Brownsburg, IN, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, great-grandson: Tyler Rose,3 brothers: Ray, Beauford and Ives and 5 sisters: Sadie, Lexie, Nola, Ruby and Stella.

Mrs. Mahannah retired from Illinois Power Company. She served 12 years as the Unity Township Clerk. Mrs. Mahannah was active in the Hammond Senior Citizens, community events and she has been a member of the Hammond United Methodist Church for over 70 years.

Memorials are suggested to the Hammond United Methodist Church or to the Hammond Fire Department.

The family wishes to express their "Thanks" to the Arthur Home for the love and care shown to Catherine while she resided there.
