Carol Lynn Mirza, 65, of Tuscola, IL, formerly of Flora, IL, passed away at 10:20 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday immediately following the visitation at the Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, IL.

Carol was born on January 11, 1953 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Dr. John H. and Mary H. Kearns Bennett.

Survivors include her son: Jameel (Jenna) Mirza of Valley Park, MO, daughter: Zehra (Bryan) Wyrich of Tuscola, IL, brother: John (Robin) Bennett of Mattoon, IL, grandchildren: Evelyn and Addison Mirza, Reagan, Isaac, Andrew and Adrien Wyrich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Miriam Christine Mirza and half-brother: Thomas H. Bennett.

Memorials are suggested to Unbound or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Carol graduated from Mattoon High School in 1971. She then received her bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University. She worked as a teacher in the Flora area for many years. Carol was a member of the Flora First Christian Church.


Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She devoted her life to caring for her daughter with disabilities, and genuinely cared for all those she came in contact with. She also had a soft spot in her heart for animals; even snakes and spiders, and especially cats.


Carol had great interest in all cultures and languages, however, she spoke fluent French, and loved Paris. She also enjoyed genealogy and researching her family tree. Other hobbies included; cooking, playing the piano, sewing and crochet, shopping, sipping on a hot cup of tea or coffee, and reading her bible.


She will be mostly remembered for her great love and servitude of Jesus Christ.
