Obituary

Bruce Edward Mason, 84, of Arcola, IL, passed away at 4:50 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at his residence.

Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Arcola United Methodist Church, 121 South Locust Street, Arcola, IL with Rev. Vince Rohn officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Bruce was born on August 15, 1930 in Bushton, IL, the son of Albert and Frances Wingler Mason. He married Bonnie Belle Ramsey on May 5, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughters: Debbie Hemann and husband: Jeff of Mattoon, Dianna Pangburn and husband: John of Tuscola and Vickie Gullion and husband: Dan of Arcola, grandchildren: Kim Roley and husband: Ed of Mattoon, Shannon Phillips and husband: Steve of Neoga, Jeremy Gullion and wife: Jennifer of Arcola, Tiffany Krieg and husband: Kevin of Wood River, Shane Pangburn and Steve Pangburn and wife: Suzanna of Champaign, great-grandchildren: Lane, Luke, Kylee, Danny, Lincoln and Gwen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He graduated from Charleston High School and attended college in Kirksville, Missouri for 2 years on a football scholarship. He was a former heavy weight Golden Gloves Champion in St. Louis. He served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Korean War. Bruce retired as a pipefitter from USI-Quantum Chemical Company, Tuscola, IL after 37 years of service.

He loved his family and he loved his golf, often referring to it as his work. Bruce worked for many years in the pro shop at Kaskaskia Country Club. He had several hole-in-one's, shot his age dozens of times and belonged to the "Golf Gang Bangers" at Kaskie.

Memorials are suggested to the Arcola United Methodist Church or the Arcola Lion's Club.
